In a smart move for the region and the nation, the governors of Oregon, California, Washington, New Mexico and Arizona have reached what may very well be a historic agreement to cap and trade greenhouse gas emissions. The move comes six months after California became the first state to cap carbon emissions.

The new western states agreement will lend force to a similar plan being enacted by seven eastern US states. We can only hope that the combined influence of the coastal pacts will force Washington’s hand and make the creation of national program to limit greenhouse gases an (overdue) reality.

This is two things…very exciting in a dare I say anti-environmentalist time, and yes I agree, long, long overdue..we should of been making these changes in the 70’s…. I will never say it is to late but WTF…I actually cry often when I listen to news stories or discover more about the oil and gas companies having much more power than they would want us to think..and I wonder how our species became so seperated from itself, so self-destructive, so torn away from nature and so neglegent in giving mother earth her proper homage…ugh.. the news was uplifting in an other wise world today..thanks!
