A memorial to fallen soldiers. This past weekend we rode down to the U of A mall to see a traveling memorial, Eyes Wide Open: An Exhibition on the Human Cost of the Iraq War. Organized by the Quaker organization American Friends Service Committee, the full exhibit contains over 3,000 pairs of boots representing each and every member of the armed services that have lost their lives, along with a “wall of remembrance” with the names of the more than 11,000 Iraqi civilians who have been killed since the U.S.-led invasion began.

The event was a well organized and non-confrontational memorial that is well worth a visit. The organizers are visiting IL and VA in the coming weeks and will be returning to Arizona in March. I have posted a few of the photos that I took during the U of A memorial in the gallery.
