recycle.pngI read the Greenpeace report with interest a couple months back stating that Apple’s green business practices were less than stellar. Afterall, I use Apple products and generally recommend them over those less elegant black boxes called PCs. Lot’s of criticism was leveled against Greenpeace over their ranking criteria, because they failed to take into account things like packaging, recycling and, well.. they ranked Dell #1 (reason enough to be suspicious). I don have to disagree with the Greenpeace report about product lifespan, I’m typing this on an upgraded 6 yr. old Power Mac, and my 3rd gen iPod is still getting daily usage.

Now the thorough folks over at Arstechnica have an article linking to an EPA report that paints an entirely different picture of Apple’s green practices and lists the MacBook Pro as the highest scoring portable out there. The truth probably lies somewhere in between, but come on Apple, there’s plenty of room for improvement industry-wide and you are just the company to get this trend rolling.
